Commercial Break!

And now for an advertisement!

Don’t worry, I’m not gaining anything from this, just want to spread the info. No referral links, I swear! >.<

FileSavr’s giving out free lifetime membership for paid accounts on their website. These paid accounts will provide:

  • 250GB of space
  • 10GB per upload
  • No countdown timers or advertisements

To prove it, head here for a test download. No, you don’t need to download it (in fact I urge you not to), but observe the lack of any timer or advertisement on the page.

There are a few cons to this though:

  • It lags – I mean, mention free hosting like this to anyone and it’ll spread like wildfire. This was announced at The Consumerist, so you can expect a lot of traffic as people sign up, upload and download stuff.
  • Simplistic interface – Simplistic isn’t bad…but the “Manage Files” page has so few elements it’s ugly. Could just be my taste though.
  • Incomplete – Some pages are still under construction.

They passed this message to The Consumerist along with the link:

We owe our success to the social bookmarking sites like Digg, Stumble, Reddit and Delicious. As a thank you to the social sites we are offering free accounts on FileSavr.com to all bloggers as well as members of all social sites. This is a lifetime membership for absolutely FREE. There is no catch, we simply hope this will create good buzz and people will also donate to us if they like our service.

Also, check out their Terms of Use:

Terms of Use
The use of this service to upload copyrighted or illegal material is not allowed, and will be removed and the offending individual may be banned from using our services. FileSavr provides no warranty, expressed nor implied, and all services are provided as-is. Any individual utilizing the services provided by FileSavr does so at their own risk.
In accordance with the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA), any material that an individual feels is in violation of copyright(s) may contact FileSavr, and if proper documentation is provided and we find that the material in question is of copyrighted material, FileSavr will immediately remove said material. Being a secondary party and strictly a file host, FileSavr is not responsible for material uploaded by users, but we will do our best to maintain quality control.

My thoughts? I think this won’t last forever, considering you’re providing a lot of free hosting to a large amount of people (and expecting some donations LOL). Also, the limit appears to be slated at 2038, though one commenter on the Consumerist page claims it’s due to a technicality with UNIX. Meh, free’s free, after all, and I’ll be taking advantage of this while it lasts.

Still interested? Sign up here! (See? Not a referral link!)

I already signed up for this, and even provided the test download page.

    Great find Mr. BaKa!

Great find! Now I just need to find a free webhost with no ads and .asp/mysql with an ODBC connection.

My paid hosting runs out soon, cause the host needs money in real life =/
